Professor Paul Clarke (Male) is a Visiting Professor of Aerospace Manufacturing Technology at the University of Derby. Prof Clarke has over 15 year’s industrial experience in both Space and Aerospace sectors. Prof Clarke currently works at GKN Aerospace as Head of Technology and acting VP Engineering, technology and quality, defining and executing the core research and development activities and directly contributes to the strategic direction of the business. He has extensive experience in functional composite structures, material development, advanced manufacturing and has directly contributed to the more electric aircraft programmes; this includes leading the design, development and integration of the Boeing 787 electro-thermal wing ice protection system. Prof Clarke is also author to the ATI Digital Transformation and Product verification insights papers as well as the Aerospace contribution to the recently commissioned Government Made a Smarter report. More recently Prof Clarke successfully contributed to the £121m Industrial Strategy Challenge fund proposal and is an active participant in the digital 4 Manufacture leadership group, ESPRC network plus – connected everything and made smarter industrial leadership working groups. Mr Clarke is also the chair of the GKN digital strategy board. Prof Clarke is registered as a subject matter expert within the European Union Clean Sky JU and supports proposal assessments, he also a contributing member of the SAE digital and data working group.
